ESI-50L Hardware Installation Manual Overview
A.2
NSP
Built into the main board, the NSP (Network Services Processor) serves as a bridge between an Ethernet-
based network and the ESI-50L. Using TCP/IP, the NSP communicates directly with specific PC applications for
maintenance of, and integration with, the ESI-50L.
The NSP manages optional features such as VIP and phone control via TAPI PC applications; it also provides
access to not only maintenance and administration (through use of ESI System Programmer software) but also
an Installer-selectable SMDR interface.
The NSP hardware interface consists of a dedicated Ethernet port. Its external RJ-45 jack provides a
10/100Base-T connection to the LAN. The NSP consumes no call-processing ports.
Note: The ESI-50L provides one Ethernet port for access to the NSP.
